Island not immune from global downturn

by isleofman.com 13th June 2012

There was a breath of fresh air in House of Keys questions this week apparently - and it was the Economic Development Minister John Shimmin.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson asked him a question about the redundancies which are going to affect staff at Manx Gas.

Mr Shimmin explained the situation and said the department would do all it could for those who find themselves without a job when the consultation period ends.

He also explained the situation in detail to members, and said it was another example of how the Isle of Man wasn't immune from the global downturn.

Mr Henderson says he's pleased with the Minister's response.
