Relay reaches Ramsey

The Alternative Torch relay, aimed at reaching the parts of the Island the official Olympic torch relay on Saturday June 2nd did not, took place on Sunday June 10th to finish in Ramsey.

 

Organised by Olympic torchbearer Henry de Silva the relay attracted entrants from a range of sports and involved various modes of transport. It began in Port St Mary, continued through to villages in the north of the Island and concluded at Ramsey town hall where Ramsey Town Commissioner Dr Alex Allinson, lead member for parks and leisure, welcomed Mr De Silva and his supporters and thanked him for providing outlying towns and villages the opportunity to share in the excitement of London 2012.
