by isleofman.com 12th June 2012

The Steam Packet flagship Ben My Chree has been hit by what is thought to be an electronics failure.

Her scheduled 2.15 am departure from Heysham this morning was delayed by more than four hours when a problem with the vessel's starboard pitch control occurred during routine tests.

She left Heysham shortly after 6.30 am but is currently stationary off Douglas (1100).

A statement from the Steam Packet Company says further investigations are required in Douglas today and updates on revised sailing times will be issued throughout the day on .

The freighter Arrow brought in to help during TT has had her contract extended and will sail to Heysham and back tonight.

Today’s Manannan sailings to and from Dublin and Liverpool are not affected and passengers should check in on time.
