Are there alternative options for Island's film industry?

by isleofman.com 10th June 2012

What alternatives have the government looked at for the film industry?

That's a question being posed by South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft after proposals were unveiled earlier this week for government to buy a 20% stake in Pinewood Shepperton studios.

The move comes off the back of the Oxford Economics report which suggest that the film industry has been valuable to the Manx economy since 1995, but would now appear to be in decline.

A presentation on the proposed scheme is to be made to MHKs on Monday. It will be debated by Tynwald on the 19th June.

Mrs Beecroft says not enough is known about the deal being put forward
