D-Day remembered

by isleofman.com 9th June 2012

Fallen friends and colleagues will be remembered by war veterans on Sunday morning.

A service is being held to mark the 68th anniversary of the D-Day landings where British, American and Canadian forces stormed the beaches of Normandy – a move that marked the beginning of the end for the German war machine.

Hector Duff, chairman of the Normandy Veterans Association in the Island, says it was one of the most important Second World War campaigns and should be remembered as such.
