Pryke retains North of England 400m title

by isleofman.com 7th June 2012

Isle of Man Sports Aid recipient and Martin Bullock-sponsored athlete Harriet Pryke competed at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham last weekend in the England Senior Track and Field Championships.

The event also incorporated the Northern and Midland Championships, which are normally held as separate events.

In cold and blustery conditions on the Saturday, which were not conducive to many fast times, she won her heat of the 400m in 55.35 earning a reasonable lane draw in the final.

Harriet came third in 55.24, which was enough for her to retain her North of England title.

The race was won by Emma Pullen in 54.79 (who became Midland Champion), with Tara Kafke second in 55.10.

In cold and rainy conditions on Sunday, in her first 200m of 2012, Harriet was third in her heat in 24.93, and went on to win the 'B' final in a new personal best time of 24.71.

Harriet is hoping for warmer conditions when she competes in Bedford at the U23 Championship on June 16 and 17.
