Debbie Does It! (With a little help from Rob)

by isleofman.com 5th June 2012

Team Oscar Racing today qualified for Wednesday’s sidecar race with a timed practice lap of 92.8.  When they cross the start line at the beginning of the race, they will be taking their place in the history books - Debbie will be the first Manx born woman driver to compete in a TT sidecar race.

Ever since she was a little girl, it has been Debbie’s dream to compete in the TT and she finally made it to this year’s event.  With Rob Lunt in the chair, she made good lap times in practice, but had one or two technical problems which meant that she was a hair’s breadth from a qualifying time for Saturday’s sidecar race.  Not one to be beaten though, the pair went out again in the one lap practice on Monday with everything to prove – and did it!

Speaking after today’s successful practice lap, Debbie commented: “I just want to thank all of the people that have supported us all the way.  The sheer number of good wishes and encouragement we’ve had has been overwhelming.  I’ve always said that you have to go out and fight for your dreams, and this week we’ve proved that to be the truth.  I hope that it will encourage other people to follow their dreams too, whatever they may be.”
