Injury forces Gerrard out of European 10,000m

by isleofman.com 5th June 2012

While competing at the 16th European Cup 10,000 metres in Bilbao on Sunday Keith Gerrard was unable to complete the race after suffering a muscle strain on the fourteenth lap.

Gerrard was one of three athletes making their first start for Great Britain at an international track and field meeting.

Having gone with the fast early pace he was on schedule for a personal best after passing the 5km mark in 14.08.

Keith said, "I don’t think there is any serious damage and I will be competing again this coming weekend to prove my fitness and put this setback behind me."
