Peel RNLI lifeboat and its volunteer crew had a late night rescue on Saturday morning (2 June) at 1255 am. when a 20 foot motor cruiser on passage from Northern Ireland to Peel ran out of fuel 6 miles West of the port.
Ruby Clery was launched to go the aid of the 20 foot “Woody Blue” which had two persons on board travelling to Peel for the TT, which had raised the alarm on breaking down. The volunteer crew under the command of Coxswain John Hunter located the boat in fine weather and towed the vessel back to Peel.
Coxswain Hunter reiterated the warning given by Peel RNLI a few weeks ago “to make sure that boats and crew are properly prepared before leaving port, especially late at night”
