James takes the plunge for The Children's Centre

by isleofman.com 1st June 2012

James Bailey from Kirk Michael braved his first ever bungee jump to raise £350 for The Children’s Centre.

He plunged head first from 300 feet for the daredevil stunt at Tatton Park near Manchester in an event believed to be the highest bungee jump organised in the UK. James, who works as a tax administrator at Optimus Fiduciaries, Braddan, actually did two jumps on the day - one for The Children’s Centre and one for Rebecca House Hospice.

James said: “I was a bit nervous before the first jump but it was a great experience and all in a good cause.”

James is now planning to do another bungee jump at the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland. Last year he completed The Children’s Centre’s ‘tyrolean challenge’ which involved crossing Dhoon Glen by rope. Mark Eastham, Adventure Events Fundraising Coordinator at The Children’s Centre, accepted a £350 cheque on behalf of the charity and said:

“We’re extremely grateful to James for giving up some of his free time to take part in this challenge and support The Children’s Centre. His idea is a great example of how you can have fun and raise funds for our charitable projects at the same time.”
