No plans for Island teachers to strike

There are no plans for Island teachers to follow their UK counterparts and strike this autumn.

However, there’s no room for any more cuts in the Manx education system.

That’s the viewpoint of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers after the biggest teachers' unions in the UK threatened co-ordinated strikes over jobs, pensions, workload and pay.

Island representative, Andrew Shipley, believes there’s no such appetite locally, although admits the strain is beginning to show.
