Alex Toohey tops Marown poll

The parish of Marown has a new commissioner.

Technical operator Alex Toohey topped the poll in yesterday’s by-election.

He polled 183 votes with former commissioner, retired cafe proprietor Mary Corlett, gaining 99 votes.

The turnout was just under 17 per cent.

Mr Toohey has been elected to serve a four year term until April 2016.
