First year of police social media pages

A senior police officer says the decision of the force to use social media has had many benefits.

It’s a year tomorrow since the constabulary began using Facebook and Twitter to communicate with the public.

The pages keep residents informed on a range of issues, including details of road closures, collisions and witness appeals.

Inspector Derek Flint says it's helped the public realise how much the police do
