Douglas reveals beacon plans

by isleofman.com 18th May 2012

Douglas Council has announced its plans to light the capital’s Diamond Jubilee beacon next month.

The beacon, on the tower of St Ninian’s church, will be lit at exactly 10.21pm on Monday, June 4 to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

Douglas Mayor David Ashford will light the fire, accompanied by Archdeacon Canon Andrew Brown and members of the Council, officers and invited guests.

The event is part of a network of more than 4,000 beacons that will be lit between 10pm and 10.30 that night around the world.
