Elderly resident rescued from flat

by isleofman.com 17th May 2012

An elderly lady had to be rescued from her flat in Lheannagh Park, Douglas, after being overcome by gas fumes.

Fire crews were called to the property just after 10.10am, to help Manx Gas staff work out where the gas was coming from.

Officers wearing breathing equipment went in to isolate the supply and ventilate the flat.

Ambulance crews took the lady, and the care assistant who'd helped get her out, to hospital for a precautionary check-up.

The gas was traced to a cooker which had been left on.
