An Onchan MHK says he voted against almost ?3 million in school improvements in Castletown because of fears the money’s being used to set up a pre-school.
David Quirk objected to the scheme put forward by Education Minister Peter Karran in Tynwald this week for Victoria Road School.
Mr Quirk says initially, he thought the extension scheme was to create a new classroom.
But he couldn’t support the scheme, which he says would create a pre-school area just as the department privatises its nursery provision.
