Fellowship go for world record

In a couple of garages in the east of the Island a small gang of amateur petrolheads has built a machine which they hope will break a world record later this year.

The Lonan Gentleman's Fellowship - Richard Barks, Paul Hodgson, Bob Watson, Stu Harvey and Suzy Starlite - and their 500cc motorcycle will be at Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in August for Bonneville Speed Week.

The project to build the bike has been going for nearly two years and has seen many local businesses come on board to help with manufacturing parts and sponsorship.

The team is trying to break a record - 176mph - for the engine size and a specific class, which has stood for 33 years.
