Leading fiduciary and fund administration services provider, Abacus, has shown their support to another local charity initiative by making a donation to the Manx Children in Need Appeal.
The Douglas-based company has donated a sum of £635.15, raised through an assortment of recent fundraising activities including a Cake Sale, Charity Quiz, Games and staff donations, to the local initiative run by the Isle of Man Lions Club to help young children throughout the Island.
The Manx Children in Need Appeal has been running since 1985. All the money raised by the appeal stays on the Isle of Man and is directly used for the benefit of local children and young people. The type of assistance provided includes but it is not limited to the provision of stair gates for families with young children, special equipment for handicapped children in schools, financial assistance for clubs and helping parents whose children are in need of treatment at Alder Hey Hospital.
Dennis Kneale, President of the Isle of Man Lions Clubs said, “We would like to thank Abacus for their kind support – the money donated will go a long way to help some of the children in need on the Isle of Man. We have a great network of contacts to ensure that the money is used wisely and to the best advantage of the children or young people involved. No administration costs are taken out of the funds raised – all club services are provided free of charge which means that 100% of the funds go to providing valuable and much needed assistance.”
Abacus’ Joanne Chapman, a member of the company’s Corporate Responsibility Committee said: “The Isle of Man Lions Club has played an active role in the life of the Island by helping those in need wherever and whenever possible. They provide practical help and financial assistance in their aim to continue improving the lives of those who are unable to do so for themselves.”
Brian Barker, Chairman, Community Betterment of the Isle of Man Lions Club, said: “Many organisations, firms, offices, schools and individuals put a lot of effort into thinking of ingenious ways to raise money for the national Children in Need appeal every year. By redirecting some of those fantastic ideas into helping the Isle of Man Lions Club’s Manx Children in Need appeal it can be guaranteed that genuine cases of need here on the Island will also benefit.”
