International Nurses Day

by isleofman.com 12th May 2012

The Island's nurses have been marking International Nurses Day.

The event salutes the work of the nursing profession through the ages and falls on May 12th to commemorate the anniversary of Florence Nightingales birth.

The theme for this years day is "celebrate nursing" and nurses and patients are being invited to share their experiences of nursing care at its best

Memory and comment books have been circulated to all wards and departments at Nobles Hospital and Ramsey and District Cottage hospital as well as being available to those being treated in the community. The best stories will be put on display so members of the public can see them.

Nobles hospital dining room is also involved in the celebration with a nursing themed menu and Nurses' Day bunting whilst the Royal College of Nursing has provided branded tea bags, coasters and posters.

The Department of Health is also taking the opportunity to launch the Isle of Man website for nursing and midwifery which will provide information on the subject to nursing colleagues on and off the Island.
