The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is making big savings on its energy bills.
The department's headquarters in St John's was built two years ago with high levels of insulation and natural ventilation - meaning it doesn't gobble-up fuel in winter, and doesn't need air conditioning in the summer.
Figures just released suggest heating use at Thie Slieu Whallian is less than 50 per cent of that in a typical office of the same size.
And thanks to the the use of a wood chip boiler using chips from the Island's own plantations, the office costs about a quarter as much to heat.
The comparisons are based on a formula from the Chartered Institute of Buildings Services Engineers.
