Father and son politicians to give evidence

by isleofman.com 9th May 2012

The past and present MHKs for Michael will give evidence tomorrow (Thursday) as a committee investigates the Kirk Michael landswap deal.

Father and son David and Alf Cannan will address the hearing at the Legislative Council Chamber in Douglas at 2.30pm.

Tynwald appointed the committee to investigate a land exchange agreement at the village school between Heritage Homes, Pinecrest Investments and the Department of Education and Children.

Heritage Homes wanted to build 100 properties on land at Douglas Road Corner behind Michael School but the proposals were turned down by an independent inspector and the Council of Ministers due to concerns about road access.

The developer recently submitted new plans.
