Manx Youth Project 'Soundcheck' To Benefit from Official TT Races Track

by isleofman.com 8th May 2012

'Soundcheck', the Manx Youth project that provides local musicians over the age of thirteen with a place to meet up, organise gigs, make recordings and videos and offers practice facilities, will be the beneficiary of sales of an official soundtrack for the 2012 Isle of Man TT Races fuelled by Monster Energy.

The Government Department of Education and Children run project that operates out of the Douglas Youth Arts Centre and Castletown and Peel Youth Clubs, will use all proceeds of sales through official TT channels to generate funds to support further activity including the opening a facility in the North of the Island in Ramsey.

The track, called 'Limitless', was written and is performed by 18 year old Jenny Smith, from Douglas and her bandmates in Full Moon Fallout 14 year old Georgia Cooper and her father Paul who all use the 'Soundcheck' facilities.

The track will be launched at Sure's Douglas store on Saturday 12th May and will receive its first airplay at the Manx Radio Outside Broadcast from the store. It will be heavily played in the run up to the TT races and also on the official Radio TT service throughout the race fortnight.

Jenny commented:

"I'm a massive fan of the TT Races and wanted to write a song that reflected the event from the riders point of view. It is a tribute to the TT riders and was written to try and capture the movement, speed and excitement that comes with road racing."

The team at North One Television, the company that produces and distributes the TT races footage worldwide on behalf of the Isle of Man Government, has donated studio time and personnel to create a video to accompany the single. CinemaNX, the Isle of Man's film company has also donated footage from the hugely successful TT3D to feature on the video.

The video will be shown on the iomtt.com site on Saturday 12th May and will also be uploaded to the Official TT You Tube channel. It will be available as a download on i-Tunes and via the official iomtt.com website from Saturday 12th May.

Official TT Mobile, Broadband and Sidecar sponsor Sure has also supported the project by paying for the cost of the track to be produced onto CD's. The telecommunications company will sell copies in their two high street stores in Ramsey and Douglas and the Sure Retail Unit that will be situated at the TT Grandstand throughout the TT fortnight, with all money generated from the sales going to the Soundcheck project.

Geoff Corkish, MBE, MHK, Political Member, Isle of Man Tourism, commented:

"The record really is of exceptional quality and is a great tribute to the young talent that exists on the Isle of Man as well as capturing the thrill of the TT Races. I would encourage everyone to buy a copy to support this great project."

Paul Cooper, Youth Project Worker, Soundtrack commented:

"We are delighted to have received the backing of the TT organizations, Sure and the Isle of Man Government and hope that the interest that the event generates worldwide will help us to raise money to help us to fund our work."

Andy Bridson, Chief Commercial Officer Sure Cable & Wireless, commented:

"We were really pleased to be able to help the group by funding the cost of the CD production and by selling it in our stores. We are already involved with supporting Soundcheck through our involvement with The Garden Party so it was great to be able to extend that to support this worthwhile local charity."
