Bridson and Horrox Awarded Visitor Information Distribution Contract

by isleofman.com 4th May 2012

The Department of Economic Development has awarded Bridson and Horrox a contract to print, store and distribute visitor information to key locations around the Island.

Following a successful tender process, Bridson and Horrox has been selected to provide a service, which will include storage, packaging and distribution of a range of literature produced by the Department of Economic Development, including essential up to date information related to travel, accommodation, attractions, events and activities available to visitors.

The Department recognises that there is an opportunity when visitors arrive on the Island to provide them with as much information as possible to make them aware of the vast array of attractions, activities and events the Isle of Man has to offer. This service is one of a number of initiatives in place by the Department to ensure we continue to attract visitors to the Isle of Man and make them aware of all that there is on offer.

It is anticipated there will be approximately twenty Tourist Information Centres located around the Island helping to ensure information is easily accessible for all. The phased implementation of this service will start with the Tourist Information Centres and local carriers and will be followed by larger accommodation providers. Upon successful implementation the service will be rolled out to all registered accommodation providers and attractions.

The Department will directly contact all proposed users of the system over the next week by letter to provide them with all the information they need to start using this service.

John Sheridan, Bridson and Horrox Group Senior Sales Manager, is delighted to have secured the contract.  He said:

‘We are very excited to be part of this new initiative by the Department. We recognise the important part that printed information plays in helping visitors get the most out of their stay on the Isle of Man and am looking forward to working with providers to get the tourism message out.’

Geoff Corkish MBE, MHK, Political member for the Isle of Man Department of Economic Development with responsibility for Tourism, said:

‘The introduction of this distribution system is an important part of our marketing strategy in that it will help allow visitors to get the best experience during their stay and allow island residents easy access to information to help encourage friends and family to visit.’
