The latest report of the Marine Conservation Society recommends just two beaches on the Isle of Man.
Only Castletown and Derby Haven were said to have the best water quality, while seven failed to meet the minimum legal standards for water quality.
Eight others had the minimum acceptable level.
This contrasts with the UK where a record number of beaches have been given a top award for water quality, with more than two thirds of beaches being ranked as 'excellent'
Whilst the Island is showing an upward trend, with only one beach being recommended last year, Pollution Programme Manager for the MCS Dr Robert Keirle says it's a very chequered picture and there's a lot that needs doing:
