Celton Manx Supports Woofstock

by isleofman.com 2nd May 2012

Celton Manx is pleased to be supporting the inaugural Manx Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ManxSPCA) Woofstock event.

Woofstock is an event that has been designed to raise funds and the profile of this well-known and loved local charity. Taking place on North Quay, Douglas on the 19th May to help celebrate 115 years of the ManxSPCA, there will be entertainment for all the family including live music, face painting, stalls and street dancing. Woofstock will run from 3pm – 9pm and is free to attend, although any donations to the charity from visitors would be greatly appreciated.

ManxSPCA Fundraiser, Margaret Mansfield said: ‘This is a landmark year for the charity as we celebrate 115 of promoting animal welfare in the Isle of Man. Every year an average of 1,600 animals and birds are admitted to the sanctuary and cared for by dedicated staff and volunteers. We receive no funding from the Government so the support of generous organisations such as Celton Manx is invaluable to us. I really can’t thank them enough for their help with enabling us to stage this special event that will hopefully carry on for many years.’

Celton Manx Executive Director Bill Mummery said: ‘We are delighted to be supporting Woofstock in its first year. The ManxSPCA undertakes such valuable and worthwhile work in our community caring for a variety of wildlife, animals and birds. They do a great job considering all their funds come through donations and money raised from events such as Woofstock.

‘I am sure the event will be a huge success for the charity and enjoyed by everyone attending.’
