Manx scallop fishermen wrongly accused

by isleofman.com 1st May 2012

A report that Manx fishing boats have been damaging the gear of Northeast fishermen is wide of the mark.

It was claimed that scallop boats have caused ?100,000 worth of damage to the English fishing gear in recent months.

But Tom Bryan-Brown from the Manx Fish Producers Association says whilst there HAVE been problems with some static gear being towed away, Manx vessels have NOT been fishing in areas where there has been conflict.

He's annoyed Manx vessels have been wrongly implicated in the affair and has spoken to Chief Executive of the Holderness Coast Fishing Industry Group, Mike Cohen
