Magical Tour Leads to Cronk y Berry

by isleofman.com 1st May 2012

The Young Magicians of Mann will perform in their ‘It’s Magic!’ show at Cronk y Berry School on Friday, 18th May. The show starts at 7pm and features some amazing illusions, fun - filled segments and mystifying magic.

Mke Clague, a member of The Magic Circle and secretary of the Magicians of Mann, said:

“This will be only the second time in 25 years that a full evening of magic has been staged by the young magicians in a Douglas school, so we are naturally very excited.”

He explained “’It’s Magic’ was staged at the Youth Arts Centre in March, and it was so successful that we are taking a slightly shorter show to other venues this term. This will be the third show, and we will be travelling to Kirk Michael, Laxey and Ramsey next.”

Tickets for the show cost £4 and are available from the school.

Taking part will be Philip Morrison, Sarina Dove and Andrew Martin from Douglas, Chris Corlett from St Johns, Juan Moore from Castletown and Thomas Clague who lives in Glen Vine. Mike said “They are a very talented group of young people. A member of the audience in Peel told us that the show was ‘absolutely brilliant’, which is a fantastic compliment to the performers.”

Mike added  “We are very grateful for the support of the Isle of Man Arts Council who support the Magicians of Mann and the Young Magicians of Mann, which is a separate club. Their assistance is greatly valued, and definitely helps to raise the standard of magic performance locally. With Arts Council support we recently were able to attend a lecture and workshop by professional magician Rafael Benatar, and his advice and teaching has been invaluable. On Friday 14th September we will be celebrating the silver anniversary of the Young Magicians of Mann with ‘Magic!’ at the Gaiety Theatre, in conjunction with the Youth Events Committee. The show, sponsored by SMP Partners, will have some great new illusions and will feature Colin Boardman and Chris Burns as well as the young magicians, and is not to be missed by anyone who loves a family show full of surprises.”
