Experts assess chimney collapse

by isleofman.com 30th April 2012

Mines experts have been taking a close look at the remains of the old chimney that has collapsed in the south of the Island.

The Beckworth Mines chimney, at Rushen Mines, is now half the height it was after its top section came crashing down, possibly during the strong winds at the end of last week.

Peter Geddes is from the Manx Mines Group, and says it is hoped the remaining stump will remain intact.
