Social media initiative a success

The police media officer says he's generally pleased with how their use of social media has gone in the first year.

Isle of Man Constabulary set up a Facebook page and Twitter feed ahead of TT 2011, as a way of keeping the public posted with road closures, collisions and what was going on.

The remit has since been expanded to include appeals for information about crimes, missing persons and posts about the two recent, huge, cannabis seizures.

Inspector Derek Flint says people can comment on their posts and give feedback but there are ground rules:
