Boost for helicopter fund

by isleofman.com 27th April 2012

Pubs in the south of the Island have raised more than ?1,500 for a local racing charity.

The Southern 100 Helicopter Fund is better off thanks to fundraising efforts from the Sidings and the George in Castletown as well as the Station in Port Erin.

Also helping to raise cash for the fund, which provides aerial medical cover for the racing, were taxi business Bunty’s and Castletown Hockey Club.

The Southern 100 Race Secretary George Peach says the generosity of people in the south is gratifying and ensures the rescue helicopter is available at Billown.

This year's race meeting takes place in July.
