Low turnout for Douglas elections

by isleofman.com 27th April 2012

Turnout in some Douglas Wards was "diabolical" according to Douglas Council Leader David Christian.

Mr Christian topped the poll in Hills ward with 960 votes, the highest number recorded across the Island all evening.

But turnout in Victoria ward was just 16%, whilst in Athol it was even lower at 15%.

Mr Christian says the turnout overall was disappointing, and there needs to be radical reform before the next local elections.
