Bill Malarkey returns to politics

There was a triumphant comeback for one Douglas councillor, who returned to politics after losing his seat in the House of Keys last September.

Bill Malarkey won a seat in Murray's Ward – while his wife Carol was also celebrating after winning her campaign in Hills Ward.

Douglas saw the two lowest turnouts of last night's local authority elections - 15 per cent in Athol Ward and 16 per cent in Victoria Ward.

Mr Malarkey’s victory came at the expense of Helen Callow, who was kicked out by the electorate after years in office.
