Voters choose local authority members

by isleofman.com 27th April 2012

The Island's waking up to new-look local authorities this morning.

Except in German - where the result is mired in controversy.

Officials are taking legal advice after a candidate was short-changed by 100 votes.

That discovery was made after the official declaration by the returning officer.

There were mixed fortunes for the Liberal Vannin party.

Two sitting commisisoners lost their seats, but two party members are now in office for the first time.

Elections were held in 12 of the Island's 24 local authority areas, the first results coming in shortly after 9pm.

Last to declare was Castletown, in the early hours of the morning.
