by isleofman.com 26th April 2012

An important international conference will bring representatives of 20 European countries to the Isle of Man next month.   The Department of Infrastructure is hosting the annual conference of European vehicle and driver licensing authorities who belong to EReg, the Association of European Registration Authorities, at the Sefton Hotel on 10 – 11 May.

In announcing the forthcoming event, Minister David Cretney MHK said, “the Conference provides an opportunity to promote the recognition of Isle of Man driving licences in Europe and to discuss issues of mutual interest, including road safety and with that in mind it is important to note that the key-note speech will be delivered by the Head of the European Commission’s Road Safety Unit, Mr Szabolcs Schmidt.”

Other items on the agenda include International Data Exchange and Co-operation, the re-registration of vehicles and issues surrounding driving licences.
