Southside Hostelries Provide Support for Helicopter Fund

by isleofman.com 26th April 2012

A number of Southside Public Houses and other organisations have raised more than £1500 between them for the Southern 100 Helicopter Fund.

Customers in The Sidings in Castletown made donations totalling £503.60, whilst the clientele of The George accumulated £179.00 in the bottle on the bar.

The Station Port Erin raised £170.10, whilst taxi business Bunty’s handed over £70.50. During the past Hockey season Castletown Hockey Club held a Charity Match and donated £155.00 for the Helicopter Fund.

Earlier in April, Paul and Carolyn Kennaugh held a Fund Raising Evening at the Legion in Port St Mary where the Blue Beats and Incy Wincy provided the entertainment with £450.00 being raised on the evening.

Southern 100 Race Secretary, George Peach said: “The Rescue Helicopter is an essential service that all involved with the July races hope remains grounded, but it is comforting to know that if it is required it is available and it is generous donations such as we have received recently from the generosity of people in the south of the Island that we are able to ensure that the Rescue Helicopter is available at Billown.”
