Students from Ballakermeen High School have visited Springfield Grange Nursing Home in Douglas.
The youngsters, from the school’s Patrick House, took presents of chocolate, home-made cupcakes and hand-crafted cards and delivered them personally to residents in their rooms. The visit was led by Head of House Paul Crilly who handed over a cheque for £250 for the home’s comfort fund which pays towards small items, events and gifts over the course of the year for each resident.
The money was raised by students as part of the school’s on-going charitable efforts, and a student committee chose the residents of Springfield Grange as beneficiaries.
‘Our young people found the visit inspiring, seeing how much happiness could come from a small gesture,’ said Mr Crilly.
Ballakermeen raises tens of thousands of pounds annually for local charities.
