Broadway Baptist Church, one of the largest churches in Douglas is pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Leishman as their new Minister following an induction service held on Saturday 21st April 2012.
The service, led by North Western Baptist Association regional Minister Phil Jump, included the formal induction to the Church and also included a greeting by John Powell, Minster at Onchan Elim Church and a civic greeting by Hon. David Cretney MHK, Minister for Infrastructure.
Bill joins Broadway having spent 13 years as Minister of Mills Hill Baptist Church, Oldham.
During his time there, he focussed on building a relevant church where even people who had never stepped inside a church could feel welcomed, develop friendships and discover that Christian faith could make an enormous difference in their lives.
“I am delighted to be here on the Island and working with Broadway Baptist Church at such an exciting time. There is so much to get stuck into and I’m looking forward to leading Broadway into a new era, and helping people to discover a vibrant, life-changing faith” said Bill who trained at Spurgeons College before taking up his first Ministerial role at Mills Hill Baptist Church in Oldham.
”It is great to have Bill on board” said Jackie Hewins, a Leader at Broadway Baptist Church, “With his experience, passion for God and pastor’s heart we are excited about what lies ahead. We are confident that with Bill’s addition to Broadway we can continue to reach out to our local community and show that Church is still a vibrant, relevant and life changing place to be.
Broadway Baptist Church set in the heart of Douglas also supports The Well Café, the homeless charity Graih, and most recently a youth music venue, The Upper Room. Sunday Services commence at 10:30a.m. and include contemporary worship music and God’s message through new Minister Bill Leishman.
