Doubt over Castletown Tesco

by isleofman.com 24th April 2012

Tesco's plans to open a store in Castletown are in doubt after an application for an alcohol licence was turned down.

Local commissioners opposed Tesco's bid to sell alcohol throughout its opening hours, possibly as late as 11pm.

It's understood the chain may now reconsider whether to proceed with plans to open a store in Callow's Yard.

Castletown commissioners were not opposed to the sale of alcohol altogether - but wanted restrictions.
