Some of the world’s best BMX stunt riders, skateboarders, and inline skaters will entertain crowds at this year’s Royal Manx Show thanks to Manx Telecom. UK-based Team Extreme are being brought to the Island following Manx Telecom becoming the main sponsor of the show held at Knockaloe Farm, Patrick, on August 10 and 11.
Team Extreme will do eight performances, four on each day, featuring breathtaking ramp tricks and high-flying mid-air stunts. In between each display their experts will be holding coaching sessions for kids to learn BMX and skate skills - and their mums and dads can join in too if they fancy having a go! Neil Danns, Director of Team Extreme, is himself an accomplished skateboarder and winner of many British and European titles. He has performed shows all over the world including Cape Town, Shanghai, Brazil, Iceland, and all over the USA and for the last 20 years has taken Team Extreme to all corners of the globe.
Neil said:
“This will be Team Extreme’s first visit to the Isle of Man and we’re really looking forward to the shows. We have a team including many world class performers and this will be a unique opportunity for the Manx public to see them in action. But there will be plenty of opportunities for spectators to get involved too and they can bring along their own skateboards, roller skates and inline skates if they want to learn some new tricks.”
Team Extreme can’t confirm the actual line up of performers until a few weeks before they visit the Island, but their roster of more than 50 international stars includes the UK’s number one BMXer Mark Webb, inline skating stars Danny Aldridge (twice British champion) and Chaz Sands (2008 Skater of the Year), plus skateboarders Jak Tonge (winner of the Duffs Concrete Carnage contest) and Sam Bosworth (first UK skater to win at the legendary X Games).
Voirrey Barron, Manx Telecom Marketing Communications Manager, said:
“Team Extreme’s show will provide great entertainment for all the family and we’re delighted to be able to bring them to the Island for the first time. It promises to be a spectacular display and a chance for youngsters to learn from some of the world’s top performers.”
