MEA staff given chairman's assurances

by isleofman.com 23rd April 2012

Staff at the Manx Electricity Authority shops, which are due to close over the next six months, will receive full backing in their bid to find new jobs.

That promise from the authority chairman after it was announced the MEA outlets in Douglas, Ramsey, Castletown, Peel, and Port Erin are to shut between the end of May and September.

A detailed review of the retail operation concluded it wasn’t possible to turn the loss-making retail outlets around.

However, Eddie Lowey insists the 24 staff will receive help.
