Liberal Vannin suspends MHK

by isleofman.com 23rd April 2012

Onchan MHK Zac Hall has been suspended from the Liberal Vannin Party.

It comes three days after he – and John Houghton – were sacked by the Department of Education for failing to support their Minister Peter Karran, the party leader, in a Tynwald vote on pre-school nurseries.

That was a clear breach of government guidelines and Mr Houghton and Mr Hall also breached parliamentary standing orders by excusing themselves from the debate, without permission from the Tynwald president.

However, Liberal Vannin has now taken action, saying they undermined the department and offered no alternative solution, claiming both men were ‘way beyond any management control’ in the department.

The Party also says Mr Hall hasn’t performed to the ideals expected after leading officials to believe he supported the party system.
