'Time had come' for closure of MEA shops

by isleofman.com 21st April 2012

The Chief Minister says Manx Electricity Authority bosses agreed the time had come to close its shops around the Island.

It was confirmed yesterday, the MEA outlets in Douglas, Ramsey, Castletown, Peel and Port Erin will shut.

MEA showrooms have been selling electrical appliances on the Island for decades.

However, after a detailed review of the retail operation, the MEA board felt it wasn’t possible to turn the loss-making business around.

Allan Bell concurs.
