by isleofman.com 20th April 2012

Leading fiduciary and fund services group, Abacus, recently celebrated the official inauguration of their Maltese fiduciary arm, Abacus Corporate Services Limited.

The event, which also celebrated the company obtaining its Maltese Trust licence and the official opening of their new offices, was held at the company’s Gasan Centre premises in the newly built financial district in Mriehel.

Headed by Chief Executive Officer, Garry Crossan, the team at Abacus Malta were joined by Group Director, Stewart Fleming and Managing Director of Abacus Financial Services Limited, Paul Kneen, who travelled from the Isle of Man to attend the event.

Over 50 guests joined in the celebrations, including representatives from local law firms, audit firms and banks on the Island as well as representatives from Malta Enterprise. They were entertained by live music provided by a local string trio and enjoyed drinks and canapés on the company’s large office balcony, which also provided an exquisite view of the evening’s sunset over the town of Mdina.

Commenting on the event, Garry Crossan said, “We are pleased to have been able to host a wonderful evening to mark the official opening of our new offices and the gaining of our trust license in Malta. I would like to thank all of our guests for joining us in our celebrations and for their contributions in making it such an enjoyable and successful evening. We are thankful for the opportunity to meet with the existing and well established Maltese businesses, each of whom we hope to have the pleasure of working alongside in supporting the Island’s growth in the financial services industry.”

Abacus established Abacus Corporate Services Limited in February 2011 which now runs alongside its Maltese fund arm Abacus Fund Administration Limited. Granted its Maltese trust license in February 2012 by the Malta Financial Services Authority, the company is now fully authorised to provide trustee and other fiduciary services alongside their existing suite of corporate and fund administration services, complementing the service offering available from the group’s head office in the Isle of Man.

Mr Crossan continued, “Our Malta office is an integral part of our growth strategy and since opening our fund arm in 2010, we have been fortunate in our ability to grow our profile and extend our services into another well regulated, accessible and reputable jurisdiction. We look forward to a successful future, building on the progress we have already made and in playing our part to Malta’s success in growing its financial services industry.”

Abacus is an independent, privately owned group of companies, who are leading fiduciary and fund services specialists, built on more than 35 years of delivering value to institutional and high net worth clients through bespoke and comprehensive solutions in the areas of Fiduciary, Funds, Property, Tax and Yachts and Aircraft.
