Market Comment from Helen Ainsworth from Harmony Homes

by isleofman.com 20th April 2012

Spring is in the air and my inner feeling is the worst is over.  The last three months have shown a gradual improvement in sales and potential buyers seem a lot more positive about the property market.

There is a huge selection of desirable homes for sale and I believe the next three months will show a further improvement.  At this time of year, gardens are beginning to look their best and with some sunshine, warmer weather, affordable mortgages will all get people house hunting in earnest once again.

As long as your property is priced realistically for today’s market, you will sell.

For potential investors, the rental market is as buoyant as ever.  It is far better to have a house rented out producing a good yield and appreciating in value than cash earning little interest in a deposit account.

Landlords – we need your houses for an ever increasing demand for rental property.

First time buyers – please do try and get on the ladder while banks are starting to help again.  I have a feeling house prices will start to rise again in a more positive market, so delaying your first house could cost you dearly.

We have a surfeit of properties over a million pounds.  Some owners wish to be private and do not allow us to openly advertise.  Buyers should arrange to talk to one of our Managers to discuss their requirements, perhaps one of our ‘quietly marketed houses’ is perfect for their needs
