Houghton and Hall to be sacked

by isleofman.com 19th April 2012

Manx Radio understands two rebel political members of the Department of Education are to be sacked.

In Tynwald on Tuesday, John Houghton and Zac Hall refused to take part in a debate into the future of pre-school education, and didn’t vote on the issue.

Their action is in breach of the government’s code of conduct for departmental members.

It says members must abide by the principle of collective responsibility, and publicly support their minister.

Both apologised for their absence ahead of the debate, in a note to the President of Tynwald Clare Christian.
