by isleofman.com 17th April 2012

Moore Stephens Isle of Man, leading providers of multi-sector accountancy, consultancy and wealth management services is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Douglas Bay Yacht Club open day, to be held on Saturday 28th April, kicking off at 11.30am.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to help the yacht club through Moore Stephens’ sponsorship,” said Tracey Meredith, Douglas Bay Yacht Club member and tax manager at Moore Stephens Isle of Man, “The open day is a family fun day aiming to attract more members to the yacht club by showing how accessible sailing and cruising is. We’re also taking the opportunity to raise funds for two great local charities: Sailing for the Disabled and RNLI”.

After announcing last week the sponsorship of the annual 2012 Moore Stephens Douglas Regatta, this is welcomed additional support for the Douglas Bay Yacht Club.

“We are really grateful to Moore Stephens for sponsoring this event”, commented Mike McMahon, commodore at Douglas Bay Yacht Club, "If you have always wondered how to take up boating or sailing and what the local yacht club can offer you and your family, you should come along and find out first-hand what we do and how you can be a part of it."

Fundraising activities include a rubber duck race, cake competition, boat jumble and raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day; with prizes donated by local businesses. If you are interested in booking a table for the jumble sale, the cost is £10 (all going to the charities) or if you are a keen cake baker, please come along and submit a cake to the ‘by the sea’ themed cake competition, all entries must be in by 12.30pm. For bookings and further details please contact Mike at the yacht club on 673965 or email at info@douglasbayyachtclub.com.

In addition to the nautical festivities, everyone is encouraged to dress up as a pirate for the day and there is even a prize for best pirate outfit – this is not restricted to children!
