AFD makes armed forces postcode breakthrough

by isleofman.com 16th April 2012

A Ramsey software firm which invented a widely-used postcode database has made a breakthrough in postal services for British forces.

Service men and women have until now faced major difficulties ordering goods and services from overseas.

Their special BFPO postcodes are often rejected by the system used by thousands of organisations and retailers across Britain.

Now, AFD Software has developed a new set of forces postcodes for each BFPO address which fully integrate into the Royal Mail system.

It's been welcomed as a major breakthrough by the former head of the British Army General Richard Dannatt.
