Manx police help US cops trace Irish woman

by isleofman.com 13th April 2012

Emergency workers in America teamed up with Manx and Irish police to save a woman’s life last month.

The story's emerged during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week in America.

The woman from Dublin dialled a non-emergency number for the Oklahoma City dispatch in early March, saying she was suicidal, had a gun and was going to kill herself.

David Shupe, director of 911 services, says an operator contacted a phone company which traced the call to the Isle of Man.

Manx police then helped trace the call to Dublin, and Irish officers found her and took her to hospital with a stab wound.
