The Children’s Centre Receives Investors In People Award

by isleofman.com 12th April 2012

The Children’s Centre has been awarded Investors In People (IIP) accreditation in recognition of the charity’s continued support for its staff. The award follows a rigorous review undertaken by the Regional Assessor of Investors in People in February this year. The Children’s Centre was first recognised by Investors In People in 2006 and the accreditation is reviewed every three years. In the latest review, the IIP Assessor said the charity continued to demonstrate strength in more than 20 key areas of organisational behaviour, and is ‘easily meeting’ the 10 indicators of the Investors In People standard. Areas of particular strength noted in the review were passionate and highly motivated staff, planning, leadership, and on-going management support. Pride in the organisation was also commented upon by the Assessor, who stated that staff have a ‘noticeable commitment in working for the organisation, and this can only augur well for the people who come into contact with The Children’s Centre’.

Chief Executive John Knight said:

“This on-going recognition by Investors in People is very pleasing not only as it illustrates our commitment to our staff team but also that it gives us clear information on what we can do better in future.”

A further valuable part of the review process is receiving feedback on areas for development. The Children’s Centre has made a commitment to work on these over the next three years, to ensure best organisational practice is firmly embedded in the growth of this community-based organisation. The Investors In People accreditation was presented to The Children’s Centre by Laurence Skelly, MHK, Member for the Department of Economic Development. The Department is responsible for the promotion of Investors In People on the Island.

Mr Skelly commented:

“The Children’s Centre’s achievement of the standard is a reflection of the excellent internal working practices they apply.  Evidence of their investment in their staff is seen through the fantastic work they undertake in the local community.”
