The SMP Partners Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Turner as their Group Chief Operating Officer and Ian Begley as the new Head of Accounting.
With offices in the Isle of Man, Hong Kong and Zurich and an increasingly international footprint, Stephen’s new role will include developing and implementing strategies across the three offices, managing the overall operations of the Group and ensuring the consistent and profitable delivery of services across the international business.
Stephen previously spent six years with KPMG in Manchester where he qualified as an ACA. On moving to the Island in 1998 he was employed to assist the management of a six partner Chartered Accountancy practice and was promoted to Managing Partner in February 2001. One of the Executive Directors who undertook a management buyout from Fortis Intertrust in 2007, Stephen has for the last eight years been responsible for the development and management of the accountancy business delivered by SMP Accounting & Tax Limited. He qualified as an FCA in 2005.
The appointment of Stephen to his new role has created an opportunity for Ian Begley to take on the management of the Group’s accounting practice.
Ian has over twenty two years of accountancy experience, eleven of which were based with a major audit and accountancy practice on the Island. He qualified as an ACCA in 1996 and became a member of the Chartered Taxation Institute in 2003. Ian joined the SMP Partners group in 2008 as a Senior Manager and was appointed a Director of SMP Accounting & Tax in 2009. He has extensive experience of managing teams which provide accounting, auditing and taxation solutions to a range of businesses and local authorities on the Island and in the UK.

Ian has expanded the local work significantly over the last three years and with his knowledge and experience will look to continue the development of SMP Accounting & Tax in both the local and international market.
